How to Get Rid of Bad Breath

Bad breath can originate from a wide variety of places, from morning breath to deep infection in your tooth. How can you get rid of bad breath, though?

Brushing

Brushing your teeth is the first line of defense against bad breath. Brushing for two minutes every morning and every night can help kill the bacteria in your mouth that cause tooth decay. This process ensures you have fresh breath at the beginning and end of the day as well.

Flossing

Food gets caught between your teeth at every meal, and flossing helps you get that food out before it starts to stink. Old food caught between your teeth is terrible for your dental health and can cause various issues, including infection.

Mouthwash

Mouthwash helps to clear out any remaining bacteria after brushing and flossing and directly freshens your breath. Mouthwash should never be swallowed, and you should always wait a few minutes after you brush to gargle with mouthwash. Otherwise, it could wash away the fluoride from your toothpaste, making your teeth vulnerable.

Other sources of bad breath, such as infections, impacted teeth, and cavities, must be handled in the dental office.
